Euphoria's Zendaya Pays Tribute to “Infinite Beauty” Angus Cloud After His Death
View Date:2024-12-23 23:56:19
Zendaya is remembering the life and legacy of Angus Cloud.
The Euphoria actress paid tribute to her costar, who died on July 31 at age 25.
"Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor)," she wrote on Instagram Aug. 1. "I'm so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I'm smiling now just thinking of it)."
Zendaya then shared why one well-known expression sums up Angus—who played Fezco opposite her Rue—so well.
"I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…'they could light up any room they entered,'" she continued. "But boy let me tell you, he was the best at it. I'd like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I'll cherish every moment."
The Spider-Man star concluded by offering a message to Angus' loved ones, saying, "My heart is with his mother and family at this time and please be kind and patient as grief looks different for everyone."
A cause of death for Angus has not been publicly shared, though his mom called 911 to report a "possible overdose" on July 31.
His family said in a July 31 statement to E! News that the actor had been "intensely" struggling with the recent loss of his father at the time of his death.
"The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend," the statement read. "Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."
Prior to his breakout role on Euphoria, Angus attended the Oakland School for the Arts in California, the same charter school where Zendaya was a student. "We had some of the same friends I guess," Angus told the Wall Street Journal in 2019, "but I didn't really know her."
Angus was cast on the HBO show as Fezco after being scouted on a street in New York. Though viewers were initially introduced to Fezco as a drug dealer, he quickly became a beloved figure through the genuine friendship—and, at times, tough love—he showed to Zendaya's character Rue, who he cared for like a little sister.
In the wake of Angus' death, many other members of the Euphoria family spoke out in mourning, with show creator Sam Levinson saying that there's "no one quite like Angus."
"He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon," Sam said in a statement to Deadline. "He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family."
